Lead Consultant
About True North Philanthropy
True North Philanthropy partners with nonprofit leaders at critical moments of growth—bringing clarity, strategy, and confidence to their fundraising efforts. We design and lead relationship-driven fundraising strategies that help organizations secure transformational gifts, execute successful campaigns, and achieve ambitious impact.
Our work sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, combining deep expertise in major gifts and capital campaigns with a practical, client-centered approach.
About the Role
True North Philanthropy is seeking a Lead Consultant to serve as the primary point of contact and lead advisor for nonprofit clients. This is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading client engagements, facilitating strategy, and driving execution across capital campaigns, major gifts strategy, and fundraising planning.
This role is ideal for a fundraising professional who has experience leading work, managing up to leadership, and driving strategy, whether in-house or in a consulting environment. The Lead Consultant will operate as the face of client engagements, with support and coaching from firm leadership behind the scenes.
Success in this role requires both analytical rigor and strong relational instincts—the ability to interpret data, guide strategy, and translate complex ideas into clear, high-quality client deliverables that drive fundraising results and support decision-making.
What You’ll Do
Serve as the primary client lead across a portfolio of capital campaign, major gifts, and fundraising planning engagements
Facilitate strategy, guide client decisions, and drive execution from kickoff through completion
Build and manage trusted relationships with nonprofit leadership and boards
Develop high-quality client deliverables such as campaign plans, cases for support, major gift strategies, feasibility materials
Analyze fundraising data and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations
Prepare and coach leadership for major donor conversations and solicitations
What We’re Looking For
You have 10–15 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, with real depth in major gifts and capital campaigns. You’ve led work and grown a fundraising team. You’re comfortable in front of a board, confident in your strategic judgment, and deliver strong outcomes independently.
Consulting experience is a plus, and some capital campaign experience is required. What matters most is that you’ve operated at a level where your judgment shaped fundraising outcomes and you can confidently guide others to do the same.
