About True North Philanthropy & The Role

True North Philanthropy is a boutique consulting firm specializing in capital campaigns, major gifts strategy, and fundraising planning for nonprofits. We’re expanding our delivery capacity and looking for an experienced contract consultant to lead client engagements as the primary point of contact and day-to-day advisor.

Engagements are sourced and scoped by TNP. Your job is to lead them. You’ll work directly with executive directors, fundraising teams, and boards—owning strategy, driving execution, and delivering results. Firm leadership provides strategic backstop; you own client delivery.

This is a project-based, contractor role.

Why True North Philanthropy

At True North Philanthropy, you get to focus on the work you’re best at (high-impact fundraising strategy) with organizations at real inflection points.

You’ll have real ownership, real client relationships, and the support of a small, focused team. If it’s a good fit, there’s a path for growth and development as the firm continues to expand.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as primary client lead across concurrent capital campaign, major gifts, and fundraising planning engagements

  • Facilitate strategy, guide client decisions, and drive execution from kickoff through completion

  • Build trusted working relationships with nonprofit leadership and boards

  • Develop high-quality deliverables including campaign plans, cases for support, major gift strategies, feasibility materials, project plans

  • Analyze fundraising data and translate it into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Prepare and coach leadership for major donor conversations and solicitations

What We’re Looking For

You have 10+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with demonstrated depth in major gifts and capital campaigns. You’ve led engagements, not just contributed to them. You’re confident in front of leadership, clear in your strategic thinking, and you operate well independently.

Prior consulting experience is strongly preferred. This role requires someone who can step into a new client relationship quickly, establish credibility, and deliver without significant ramp time.

Capital campaign experience, as a consultant or as an in-house fundraiser, is required.

Engagement & Benefits

  • $75–$85/hour, commensurate with experience

  • Approximately 20 hours per week across multiple client engagements

  • Project-based structure, each engagement is scoped and assigned separately by TNP

  • Fully remote; availability during Central Time business hours required for client work
